Design story
Verner Panton Moon Pendant Lamp Ø45 cm.
Designed in 1960 by Danish design icon Verner Panton, the Moon Pendant Lamp is one of the earliest and most celebrated examples of his experimental approach to lighting. Produced by Verpan, the lamp features ten concentric ring-shaped lamellae arranged around a concealed light source, creating its distinctive sculptural silhouette and soft, glare-free illumination. The design changes character from every angle, giving the pendant an almost kinetic presence within a space.
With its generous 44.5 cm diameter, the Moon Pendant makes a striking statement above a dining table, kitchen island, living area or entryway. The layered metal shades gently reflect and filter light, producing a warm ambient glow while concealing the bulb from direct view. Designed to balance functionality with visual impact, it remains one of the defining pieces of Scandinavian modern lighting.
More than sixty years after its introduction, the Moon Pendant continues to embody Verner Panton’s visionary design language. Its sculptural geometry, timeless white finish and architectural form make it equally at home in contemporary interiors and curated mid-century modern space.
