Our Story

distinkt is a new Melbourne based vintage furniture shop. With direct import from Scandinavia (primarily Denmark), we specialise in mid-century modern designs. As founder of distinkt, I grew up in Denmark surrounded by Scandinavian furniture and homewares. Modern design is therefore in my DNA, and I have always had a great passion and respect for mid-century designers and architects. In particular individuals such as Arne Jacobsen, Finn Juhl, Poul Kjærholm, Hans J Wegner, Poul Henningsen, Jørn Utzon, Børge Mogensen and many more.

Despite Australia and Scandinavia being situated on opposite points of the planet, the two countries have a lot on common. Some of those commonalities are love for warm, relaxed and welcoming homes. When I founded distinkt I wanted to share my passion for modern design with other lovers of good design. I could not think of a better place to do this than in Melbourne.

Good design for me has to be aesthetic. It must accommodate functional needs, be inspiring and… distinkt. As a result, it must be of the highest quality. Only then are you likely to hold on to your design pieces forever.

Product Selection At distinkt Furniture

The Products we sell are carefully selected based on our values of good design. We buy through our contacts in Scandinavia to ensure the pieces are looked after. At the same time, we are able to offer the furniture at a reasonable price.
