Design story
Kurt Olsen Shell Chair designed for Glostrup Furniture Factory during the 1950s. The charismatic shell chair was probably considered an outsider, when it comes to Danish design classics, for too long. However, this organically formed chair adds an almost humble charm to the idiom of the movement.
Made from aged teak and upholstered in first grade wool, the chair leverages comfort and style while highlighting its distinctive features: the teak armrests that are positioned perfectly and the beautifully curved back that also makes the chair extremely comfortable.
Today, little is taught about the career and production of Kurt Olsen, which makes this chair even more of an appealing and interesting find.
